I love the fall in Oregon, especially when a cool morning or a changing tree catches me by surprise after a dry hot spell. Fall has always been a busy season professionally as well, and I have to intentionally find moments to pause and notice what is happening around (and within) me at times.
I’m now a solid year into this solo-not-solo research and evaluation practice and things are really, really good. I have interesting and varied projects on my plate, incredible partners and clients, really exciting things on the horizon, and enough work that stretches into 2025 that I’m not worried about whether this entrepreneur-y life will work — though I still have room for another project or two in 2025 if you know of someone in need of some human-centered research and evaluation!
As the rain starts to fall and my shoulders and eyes relax a little, I’m feeling deep gratitude for everyone I work with and the many people who support me in all the ways, including you. Thank you!

This summer, Chelsea Ruder, Madeline Brandt and I had the joy of seeing some of our work on the AEA365 blog as part of a series of posts featuring Oregon evaluators and evaluations. We wrote about the Ripple Effects Mapping project we’ve been working on this year for clients in the Columbia Gorge. This project has been a complete delight, and putting together the post renewed my love affair with the AEA365 blog. Here are just a few of the (diverse) gems I’ve seen on the blog in the last couple of months alone:Â
And, here are a few of the others I’ve co-written (some go way back!):
